Happy New Year! So it has been a long time since I have done an homage piece of any kind. When I was trying to come up with a new year’s day image I kept getting stuck reflecting on the great escape of 2016. If you saw my image last night I think it captures a lot of how I and many of you felt. So what now that we move forward? What does the environment before us hold? I am sure it is a mix of peace and destruction, growth and oppression, life and death. The more I sat thinking about it the more I thought about the works of Hayo Miyazaki and I really started pondering over Nausica and how so many parallels can be made. She faced the unknown to find solutions. She had the courage to stand up to the bias nature of all forces to find the harmony between. Heading into 2017 I see the jungle ahead and it feels much like the same journey. So today in homage to Miyazaki’s genius I recreated a scene from Nausica with Plebian in place staring into wonders of what the forest holds.
