Tanuki is one of the most famous Yokai along side Kappa and Kitsune. This mischievous Yokai emerges from a dwindling forest environment to pull pranks on humans. Most commonly the deception is an ability to transform themselves or inanimate objects. This ability enables them to pass off leaves as money or stones as gold. Quite the little con artists. See you on the next page my friends…
Happy Father’s Day to all those fortunate enough to be a dad! Today I wish a frat father’s day to my brother and my dad and here are the images I did for them for this special day. First up is for my brother…
See you on the next page my friends and have a wonderful day!
So to continue on with the yokai exploration today I am sharing the mystical Nekomata. He’s a mischievous humanistic cat that tends to start mysterious fires and brings trouble to those other comes in contact with.
To give a little bonus alien fun today I figured this Alien author should every once in a while do a pic that should brighten your day. So I will see you on the next page and just remember….
Those of you who loved Advent of the Archetype will hopefully love what I am planning for the second book. Obviously I would start running out of free rights classic tails so instead of going into the obscure and unrecognizable lore of the western world I have decided it is a much bigger world than that. So the second book will transition from Western tales to something parallel and different. I will take you to the long tradition of Japanese folklore and introduce you to the classic yokai. For now I will be presenting images as they are created to supplement while I finish my graduate work as well as chapter 3 of Meteors n milk. I won’t be posting the story bits and wiki postings for AotA like before until I have it hashed out entirely and give it to you one day at a time. So for now since you are amazing fans I am giving you peeks as to what you will see illustration wise. So I will leave you with this first promo teaser of a Kappa and I will see you on the next page…
While I am recovering from a root canal and other fun stuff I want to share with you that Mooving the Pencil is now availiable at Star Comics. Star Comics is located at 2014 34th Street Lubbock Texas 79411 and does online orders too so check them out. So if you live local and haven’t gotten a copy stop by and come get one now! It’s been a weird few weeks but hopefully things will start to settle down soon so I can really get back to content posts. The materials are laid out before me so hopefully I can have something to you sooner than later. Till then thank you for always being amazing fans!
Today is Wonder Woman Day and as promised I am going to show a little from the two shows I am in and the great people that attended, artists and fans alike.
First up is Barnes and Noble at South Plains Mall. Those of you that have been following me for years may recall I used to be a featured artist for Starbucks so it is interesting that almost 5 years later I would be showing with one of their partners.
The response is already really great. So now for the show at Star Books and Comics Downtown!
It was an amazing show. A good portion of the images were taken by the talented Rony Dixon and the show was created, organized, and run by Raicodoll. Check them out here Rony and Raicodoll. You can also check out there amazing coverage of the show and all the artwork from it by visiting the shows album HERE!!!!
Thank you again everyone for being amazing fans and friends. I will see you on the next page….
Tomorrow local area friends and fans can see me at Star Comics Downtown for an Art of Wonder Woman exhibition. Naturally many of you aren’t local so today I am sharing with you my piece for the show. Saturday I will share images from the show. So here is the piece and I will see you on the next page…
Not everyday do we eat, breathe, and sleep the same old same. Today instead of sharing the expected Meteors ‘n Milk thing I wanted to share what I did today. I was asked to assist in doing a workshop of Plein Air painting at Lubbock’s Ranching and Heritage Center. Tons of local area teachers of all levels from elementary to high-school came together for this wonderful experience to paint outside. I did little demos and gave technique ideas and engaged in some incredible conversation. So here is a quick little study I did showing some various methods and techniques.
It was such a blast with such amazing, creative, and inspiring teachers that I met. It was over way too quickly and I wish I had more time to talk longer and meet more. I was also fortunate enough to have Texas Tech Visual Studies sponsor the distribution of my guide to 1 point perspective to all the participating teachers. It was met with great thanks and I couldn’t be happier.
Tomorrow I promise I will reveal my Wonder Woman piece and give more details on that then. So I will see you on the next page my friends….
Ok so the recap for yesterday and the second half of Saturday is pretty big so feel free to share this with your friends and family whom attended or tag friends when you share it. I had a blast and thank you again for all the friends and fans that came out. It was incredible and wouldn’t have been nearly as great without you. You guys truly warmed my heart so without further postponement, here we go…
Thanks again and just because the events over doesn’t mean the content ends. Tomorrow I am revealing my wonder woman piece for a couple up coming shows and we can talk art again!
